Member of Parliament (MP) for Asante Akyem South, Kwaku Asante Boateng, has urged the youth in his constituency to take advantage of agriculture to better their lives.
This, he said, is to ensure that the country is food self-sufficient and eventually discourages the youth in the area from moving to Accra to look for non-existing jobs.
In an interview on Adom News on the sidelines of the National Farmers’ Day celebration in the area, Mr Boateng encouraged farmers to take advantage of technology to increase their yields.
He added that the government was working its promise to maximise the enormous potential of agriculture.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Asante Akyem South, Alexander Frimpong, also said the government’s commitment to supporting the farmers, assuring them of the assembly’s readiness is to help them establish farm work.
He revealed that grading of farm roads in the area would soon commence for farmers to have easy access to their farms.
