The Member of Parliament (MP) for Asante Akyem North, Ohene Kwame Frimpong, on Wednesday contributed to parliamentary proceedings in Asante Twi.
The first-time MP insisted that his constituents want to understand what happens on the floor of Parliament, hence his decision to speak in the local language.
In his submission, Mr. Frimpong called for improved road infrastructure nationwide to boost local tourism.
The Independent MP also drew the attention of the House to the inefficient streetlights on roads and prostitution in his constituency.
His colleagues were divided over his actions, though fortified by the standing orders.
He emphasised the need for the adoption of local languages in Parliament.
The MP was later compelled by the Deputy Speaker to translate the statement into the English language.
