Former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has called on the current squad to step up their performance as they prepare for crucial 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.
Ghana’s senior national team will resume their qualification campaign with a match against Chad on Friday at the Accra Sports Stadium, followed by a trip to Morocco to face Madagascar on Monday, March 24, in Matchday five and six fixtures.
After a disappointing 2024 campaign with only two wins from 10 matches and failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Gyan, Ghana’s all-time leading goalscorer, has urged the team to secure victories in these important encounters.
“I spoke to the players and told them to do what Ghanaians expect—win these games against Chad and Madagascar,” Gyan said on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show. “They know what’s at stake, so they must step up and deliver.”
The Black Stars are currently second in Group I with nine points from four matches, and are set to continue their preparations with training sessions later this week.
