Former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has urged the Black Stars to approach their crucial 2026 World Cup qualifier against Madagascar with determination and passion.
The match, set for 19:00 GMT tonight, marks Ghana’s sixth game in the qualifiers. The Black Stars enter the fixture on the back of a dominant 5-0 victory over Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Gyan, Africa’s all-time top scorer at the World Cup with six goals, has encouraged the team to build on their momentum and push for another decisive win.
“Let’s go one hundred per cent, guys. I want Ghanaians to see you heckling and fighting, and the result will come by itself. We have great players, the talent is there, and with a bit of commitment, we will get there,” Gyan said.
He also emphasized defensive discipline, urging the team to avoid conceding goals.
“Let’s go for the kill, let’s go for the win. Make sure we don’t concede—if we don’t concede, it’s one point, if we win, it’s three points. Then everybody can ease the pressure,” he added.
Gyan affirmed his confidence in the squad and technical team, stating that their presence in camp is to motivate and support the players.
Ghana currently leads Group I with 12 points, two ahead of Madagascar. A victory tonight would further solidify their position in the race for World Cup qualification.
