An articulator truck with the registration number AS 8123-16 has run over six school children from Atobease-Kyekyewere D/A Basic school in Assin South.
The sad incident happened when the children were sent by their teachers to take maize to the mill.
The maize was going to serve as food at an up-coming inter-schools competition scheduled for Monday, November 19, 2018.
Four children out of the six died on the spot, leaving two in a very critical condition of which one died on their way to the hospital.
Eyewitnesses attributed the cause of the accident to the lack of speed bumps on the road.
“We are pleading with the Roads and Highways Authority to construct speed bumps on our roads to help reduce the accidents.”
Meanwhile, Assin South District Chief Executive has disclosed that he has written to the department of roads and highway to get the work done.
The only survivor is still on admission at the Abura Dunkwa government hospital receiving treatment.
