Armwrestling Federation seeks sponsorship as it turns 3 years

-

The Ghana Armwrestling Federation ( GAF) has turned three years and its president, Charles Osei Asibey, has called on corporate bodies to help sponsor their activities.

Since its inauguration in September 2016, GAF was mandated by the National Sports Authority to be solely responsible for the development and promotion of Armwrestling in Ghana.

As the fastest growing sport and the most-talk-about, apart from football, GAF within the period has chalked many successes and still counting, making Armwrestling rank amongst the top active federations in Ghana.

ACHIEVEMENTS

The Ghana Armwrestling Federation can boast of 17 products aimed at the development and encouraging participation by many in schools, institutions and communities.

The institution of Armwrestling Clubs, the Athletes Brigade, Coaches Chamber and the Referees Commission with an active website and interactive social media platforms are part od GAF’s major achievements.

Affiliated to the Ghana Olympic Committee, World and Africa Armwrestling Federations, the national team, The “Golden Arms” have been to all major competitions organised by the international bodies where they have won a record medal haul of 128 continental medals with 57% being gold medals.

The hight of GAF’s achievements is the hosting of the Africa Armwrestling Championships which was touted as a mini-world championship and the introduction of the sport in seven regions in Ghana and the training of 47 coaches and 29 referees drafted from Schools, Security Services, Tertiary Institutions and some communities in Ghana.

Ghana Armwrestling, in three years, is considered the best in Africa in terms of development, having developed eleven Senior referees, the only Female Referee in Africa, a World Certified Junior Referee and the Director for Training in Africa.

CALL FOR SPONSORSHIP

As GAF’s major challenge is sponsorship and financing, the Federation in the years ahead will continue to engage its partners in development including the National Sports Authority, Tertiary Institutions, GES, Gyms, Communities, sponsors and corporate Ghana to combine forces in making Armwrestling a sport of Choice covering the entire nation.

As the association prepares for the World Championship in Romania, Mr Asibey has appealed for financial support/sponsorship to enable the “Golden Arms” win a World Championship medal.

On this occasion of GAF’s 3rd anniversary, the Association says it appreciates the great support from the media and friends, Kofikrom Pharmacy, T.T Brothers, Twellium Industries, Awards Center, ABL’s Eagle Extra Stout, GTV Sports+ and the many others who have, in diverse ways, contributed towards the fast growth of Armwrestling in Ghana.

They have also called for support from institutions willing to build brands to consider the Ghana Armwrestling Federation brands.

GAF salutes the hardworking board and the working team of Husseini Akuetteh Addy, Charles Binney, Nii Otoo Lankyn, Kenneth Odeng Adade, Osei Tutu, Thomas Boakye Agyemang, Frank Osei Wusu, The “Golden Arms”, MOYS  and the many others.

We’re open to ideas, partnership and investment support as we outdoor our new logo today, Mr Asibey added.

He concluded: Armwrestling is the Next Big Thing…..Let’s build together. #Armwrestlinggh
