Armed robbers on shooting spree; rob three houses in the Eastern Region

A four-member robbery gang terrorizing residents of New Juaben in the Eastern Region, Sunday dawn, stormed Bornya, a suburb in the municipality to rob three houses of their valuables.

The robbers wearing masks and wielding guns and other burglary implements invaded the community to rob their victims amidst sporadic gunshots.

The armed robbers succeeded in robbing Mr. Kofi Aning, a staff of Ghana Education Service and his pregnant wife in a traumatic style.

At gun and knife point, the robbers took away a laptop, mobile phones, tablets, a flat screen television set and a $100 bill.

In addition to that, they took away GH?1,500.00 having chiseled and broke the security doors.

A close circuit television (CCTV) camera, mounted in the house to assist with security was also shot at by the armed robbers.

The armed robbers after the act also attacked two neighbouring houses but absconded into the bush upon the arrival of the Police.

EIB Network’s Eastern Regional correspondent, Kojo Ansah Sasraku II, reports that Bornya and its surrounding communities such as Trom, Acheampong and Two Streams with total population of about 10,000 do not have a police post, thereby, creating convenient environment for armed robbery to pester.

Some terrified residents of the community who spoke to Ansah Sasraku II said a police post is needed to curb the menace.

The Reverend Minister in Charge of Bornya King of Glory Congregation and a Police officer, Rev. Inspector Godwin Kumatror, was met providing security tips for his congregants some of who are victims of the rampant robbery in the area, Sasraku II narrated.
