Arhinful cautions Black Stars against underrating opponents in World Cup qualifiers

-

Former Ghanaian striker Augustine Arhinful has urged the Black Stars to approach their upcoming matches with caution, emphasizing the need to respect every opponent.

Ghana’s senior national team is set to regroup for the first time this year as they prepare for their 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar.

The Black Stars will first host Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium before traveling to Morocco to face Madagascar at the Al Hoceima Grand Stadium on Monday, March 24.

Speaking ahead of the crucial fixtures, Arhinful stressed the importance of maintaining focus and avoiding complacency.

“We cannot underrate any opposition since every country is improving,” he told Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show.

He further highlighted a common issue with Ghanaian football, saying, “That has been our challenge as a country that we feel we are the best, but we need to respect any opposition.

“If we record a cricket scoreline against Chad, so be it, but we shouldn’t underrate any side,” he added.

After a disappointing run in 2024, where the team won just two out of ten matches, the Black Stars will be eager to turn things around and start 2025 on a strong note.
