Head coach of the Black Stars, James Kwesi Appiah says his focus this year, is to get a formidable squad before the 2019 African Cup of Nations set to be staged in Cameroon.
Kwesi made this statement on Tuesday, after he received the keys to his official residence at the Airport Residential area.
Speaking to the press, the Black Stars boss said he is leaving no stone unturned in his bid to steer his side ahead of the continental show piece.
”As we all know, our next competitive game is in September and we are looking forward to playing a lot of friendly games before time”, he told the press.
”However, I will leave that in the hands of our leaders and hope that they get some matches for us to play in March and June”.
Having suffered disappointment in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, Coach Kwesi Appiah is now looking forward to the resumption of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers next year.
“The focus this year is to get a formidable team before 2019”, he added.
In June 2017, Ghana got off to a flyer in the 2019 AFCON qualifiers by thrashing Ethiopia 5-0 but Ghana’s inability to go to the World Cup has, perhaps, left Appiah with an increased awareness of the risks of underrating his opponents.
