A member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on beleaguered member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hajia Fati, to render an unqualified apology for assaulting a journalist to avoid jail.
The outspoken woman is under fire for slapping a Multimedia journalist, Ohemaa Sakyiwaa Ahwenepa at the party’s headquarters for attempting to take pictures of her.

Hajia Fati who was at the party’s office to prevent suspended party member, Sammy Crabbe, from picking forms to vie for a position ended up assaulting a journalist she claimed to have taken for an “onion seller”.
Her flimsy defense has rather exacerbated the issue with many media houses threatening to boycott activities of the party until leadership apologizes for her conduct.

Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show about the Hajia’s conduct, Dwaso Nsem Tuesday, Chief Nixon Biney said Hajia Fati could face criminal prosecution for the assault.
He feared the outspoken NPP woman could be jailed since preliminary investigations, according to him, have revealed she [Fati] is guilty.
As an immediate measure, Chief Biney has suggested she [Fati] calls the reporter and apologizes to her in order to put matters to rest.

“Hajia Fati must apologize to the journalist otherwise she can go to jail because this is a criminal case”, he stressed.
Chief Biney also urged the NPP to apologize to Ohemaa Sakyiwaa and the Multimedia group for the assault at their headquarters.
