The Aowin Traditional Council in the Aowin Municipality of the Western North Region has expressed deep concern over the poor state of roads in the area, particularly the Enchi-Ellubo road.
During a visit by Western North Regional Minister, Wilbert Petty Brentum, as part of his familiarization tour, the council highlighted key developmental challenges facing the municipality.
Speaking on behalf of the Omanhene, Nana Oppong Panyin III stressed that the deplorable condition of roads, especially the Enchi-Ellubo stretch, has made travel unsafe and difficult for residents and businesses.
“We urge you to lobby for the immediate reconstruction of this road and other neglected roads in the municipality,” he appealed to the Minister.
Beyond infrastructure, he also raised concerns about the state of education and healthcare in the district. He lamented the deteriorating condition of Nana Bretum Senior High School and called for its renovation, along with the establishment of an additional senior high school to accommodate the growing student population.
On healthcare, Nana Oppong Panyin III revealed that the Enchi Government Hospital lacks essential facilities, forcing many patients to travel long distances to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi for treatment.
“The hospital is struggling, and we need urgent government intervention to improve healthcare delivery in this municipality,” he stated.
In response, Minister Wilbert Petty Brentum assured the traditional leaders that their concerns had been noted and would be prioritized.
“I will push for the reconstruction of the Enchi-Ellubo road, improvements in education infrastructure, and enhancements in healthcare services to meet the needs of the people,” he assured.
The engagement ended with a commitment from both sides to collaborate for the development of the municipality.
