Premier League icon, Jamie Redknapp has heaped praise on AFC Bournemouth striker Antoine Semenyo, calling him a standout performer.
Redknapp’s comments followed Semenyo’s stellar display in Bournemouth’s 1-1 draw against Newcastle United on Sunday at the Vitality Stadium.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Redknapp, who began his career at Bournemouth in 1989 before moving to Liverpool, highlighted Semenyo’s impact.
“Bournemouth were suddenly the better team. And In Semenyo, at the right wing, he is an absolute star,” Redknapp said.
Semenyo, who has netted 10 Premier League goals since his €10.3 million transfer from Bristol City to Bournemouth in 2023, has impressed Redknapp to the extent that he believes it might be time for Bournemouth to capitalize on his value.
“I just think, and I don’t want to be selling Bournemouth’s players but you’ve got few days to that window; I think he cost £10m from Bristol City. What a great signing he was.
“He is worth a fortune. He is such an elegant, graceful, powerful, player. He is got everything, that young man,” he added.
Following Dominic Solanke’s record €64.3 million move from Bournemouth to Spurs, the goal-scoring burden has shifted to Semenyo, who has already contributed a goal and an assist in his first two league matches.
He will aim to add to his tally when Bournemouth faces West Ham in the EFL Cup at the London Stadium on Wednesday, before heading to Everton for their next Premier League clash on Saturday.
