Anticipation is high among Ghanaians as the launch of Shatta Wale’s album Reign, draws closer. The album will be launched this evening at the Fantasy Dome, Trade Fair in Accra.
Shatta Wale has been teasing Reign for some months now and has dropped a number of singles off it including the popular Gringo, Amount among others.
The excitement has been heightened even more by the recent controversy generated by Sarkodie’s diss track, My Advice, released on Wednesday, which many believe is targeted at Shatta Wale, and they are waiting to see how the self-acclaimed Dancehall King responds to Obidiponbidi.
The track comes after Shatta Wale’s comments that many GH artistes are poor and he cited Sarkodie and Kwaw Kese.
While doing promotional rounds for the Reign album, Shatta Wale has been at his controversial best stirring up a storm on the music scene with his statements.
He claimed that Sarkodie disrespected him by not doing videos of two of their big songs Megye Wo Girl and Dancehall Commando.
He also attacked fellow Dancehall star, Stonebwoy, with whom he has a long standing feud saying he will continue to attack the Baafira star because his mind is weak.
Kwaw Kese was the first to reply Shatta Wale and the two have fired shots at each other on social media while their supporters have also gotten involved.
He recently released a diss track titled Porkum on which he goes hard on Shatta Wale. The dust had not settled on that when Sarkodie dropped My Advice.
That song has blown up all over the country with everyone including musicians and other celebrities weighing in on it. From the comments on social media, it is obvious that some people believe Shatta Wale has gone too far and deserves whatever is coming to him.
Others also saw the humour in it and all kinds of funny skits have been circulating on social media.
While his fans have urged him to respond, Shatta Wale has not done so directly, only posting snide comments on social media and videos where he shows off his cars among others.
That is why the anticipation is high because speculations are that he will use the Reign album launch to give Sarkodie an appropriate response.
No matter what happens, the Reign launch is expected to be a great one as indications are that Shatta Wale is planning to give his fans a show to remember.
