A group of angry youth, on Monday, December 9, suspected to be supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), stormed the Metro Mass Transport yard in Kaneshie, Greater Accra Region.
According to George K. Abu, a driver at the yard, the group arrived around 8 a.m. and demanded to meet the manager.
When denied access, they attempted to seize a pick-up vehicle belonging to the company.
“They came wearing NDC-branded shirts and insisted on seeing the manager. When they were refused entry, they tried to remove the vehicle,” Mr. Abu told Joy News’ Collins Frimpong.
Police officers were called to the scene, but no arrests were made despite their presence.
After initially dispersing, the group returned with renewed aggression, demanding access to the manager or the pick-up vehicle.
Joy News reports that the individuals eventually left the premises without succeeding in their attempt to take the vehicle.
This incident mirrors a similar event at the Ayawaso East Municipal Assembly in Greater Accra, where persons believed to be NDC supporters invaded the office complex, targeting the National Service Scheme and National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) offices.
These developments come in the wake of the 2024 general elections, during which the NDC is reported to be leading in both presidential and parliamentary results.
