The Suhum constituency of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has declared ‘Operation Militant Action’ against members of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the constituency following an attack on the NPP’s Loyal Ladies on Tuesday October 11.
It will be recalled that irate youth suspected to be members of the NDC allegedly assaulted members of the Loyal Ladies of the NPP during a house-to-house campaign.
According to reports, although the ladies sought refuge at the Suhum chief’s palace, the thugs chased them up and assaulted them as well as some chiefs who were in a meeting.
In response, the Suhum constituency communications Officer, Ayensu Stephen told Adom News that they are declaring war on the NDC.
“Touching our Loyal Ladies is the last straw that has broken the camel’s back. We are not going to sit down and allow them to cow us into submission. The NDC has proven beyond doubt that our civil approach to their aggression and attacks won’t work. If it is violence they want, then it is violence we will give them.
“They have started the fire and we are battle ready to fuel it. We equally have the men who are ready to respond to them in kind. We are pleading with our peace-loving MP, Opare Ansah, to allow us to show them something small. We say, ‘Enough is enough’ because the police have proven that they can’t protect us and we are more than prepared to protect ourselves. The battle line has been drawn and our men are ready for action. We will show the NDC in the constituency that no single political party has the monopoly for violence,” he said.
The Suhum NPP alleged that the NDC was planning to pour acid on Mr Opare Ansah.
“The message we are sending across to them is that they should be ready to protect their own because we are coming out for them and none of them will be spared,” he threatened, adding: “We are declaring operation militant action of the NPP in the Suhum constituency duly launched.”
