The Anlo Dukor Traditional Council in the Volta Region has petitioned the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, to, within five days, help identify the Member of Parliament (MP) who verbally assaulted Klottey-Korle MP, Dr. Zanetor Agyemang-Rawlings.
According to the chiefs, identifying the legislator responsible will enable them to determine their next course of action.
In their petition, the chiefs expressed outrage over the incident and demanded immediate action.
The alleged verbal attack occurred during parliamentary proceedings on Tuesday, February 4, when a male voice was heard shouting, “Daughter of a murderer, sit down! Daughter of a murderer, sit down!”
This happened while Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin was addressing the House and calling for calm amid heated discussions surrounding the 60th anniversary of the death of Joseph Boakye Danquah.
The voice was alleged to be that of Damongo MP, Samuel Abu Jinapor. However, he has denied the claims, insisting that such language is not characteristic of him.
