Former Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan has publicly addressed the rumours of a rift between him and Andre Ayew, attributing the tension to individuals with “personal interests.”
Despite both players representing the Black Stars in major international tournaments, including the 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups, their relationship has been strained.
Gyan, however, clarified during an Instagram Live session that the reported animosity was fabricated by people who influenced Ayew for their own gain.
“Andre is a good person. He has that genuine love for me but he has been brainwashed because it benefits people,” he said.
“That is what has brought the so-called rivalry. Me I am not a rival to anyone,” Gyan added.

The reported discord intensified when Ayew succeeded Gyan as captain of the Black Stars ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt.
