Anas did his job but the effect is distasteful – Asamoah Gyan

-

Former Liberty Professional and Udinese player, Asamoah Gyan, has said he is heartbroken at the aftermath of the Anas Expose` even though he agrees the investigative journalist did a good job.

The ace investigative journalist exposed the rot in Ghana Football, leading to a subsequent halt in all football activities in the country; a situation the striker noted has negative repercussion for his team.

“I am very sad at the current stage of football in the country because we have a lot of talented players in the country. All the same, I will not heap all the blame on Anas Aremyaw Anas because he only did his job”, he responded.

“The effect has been bad for the game because Football no longer appeals to Ghanaians. I can even say Boxing is now preferred to football and it is sad”.

Gyan who also doubles as owner and head of Asamoah Gyan Group of Companies also asked for patience and support from Ghanaians as the Normalization Committee works to correct all the wrongs of the past.

“The Normalization Committee is in a tight corner given that they have to correct or change something that has been built for thirteen years so we all need to be patient and give them all the support”, he told Asempa FM.

Touching on the job of the Normalization committee, Gyan suggested that the committee engages individuals who have great knowledge of the game to help reform and revive the sport.

“I think the Normalization Committee will do a good job but they need to involve the football people who understand the game to help them. The Committee has done well so far in managing the National Team as well”, he added.

The Normalization Committee, after three months in office, is set to sanction the commencement of a novelty league in January for the Premier and Division One clubs as part of the football restoration process.
