The Ranking Member on the Health Committee of Parliament, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, is not happy about the postponement of the commissioning of the 275 ambulances by the government.

The decision, he said, exposes the incompetence of the Akufo-Addo-led administration that promised to distribute the ambulances on January 6, 2020.
Hon Akandoh’s comment was in reaction to a petition by the Ghana Ambulance Service to President Nana Akufo-Addo to shift the commissioning date to January 28, 2020.

The service explained that they were yet to install trackers and insure the vehicles, as well as train paramedics who will work on the ambulances.
But this explanation, Hon Akandoh maintained, was just a smokescreen to cover up government’s inability to fulfill its promise to Ghanaians.
“These ambulances have been in Ghana since September; we are in January and they are still citing these excuses?” he quizzed on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme, Monday.

The Ranking Member on Health, who is also the Member of Parliament for Juaboso constituency, said his people are suffering due to lack of ambulances at health centres in the area.
“Government has not been able to give tangible reasons for the late distribution of the ambulances and as Ghanaians, we are not angry enough,” he fumed.
Hon Akandoh is certain if the citizenry mounts pressure on the government, it will ensure the right things are done.
