With barely four months to the 2024 election, both parliamentary candidates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Amasaman constituency believe they are the best choice to lead.
Both candidates on Asempa FM Ekosii Sen constituency watch touted their respective parties have diligently served constituents.
In the build up to the election, this segment provides a platform for candidates to present their policies to constituents for a clearer understanding and to win their votes.
The December 7 election will be a fierce race between the NPP’s Kassim Yahya and the NDC’s Sedem Afenyo.
With the incumbent Member of Parliament, Akwasi Owusu Afriyie on the NPP’s ticket, Mr Kassim is poised to retain the seat for his party and change the narrative of the NDC’s dominance.
As an entrepreneur, Mr Kassim, the Chief Executive Officer of KAS Estate Company Limited touted that, he has created employment for some young people through five businesses including real estate as well as Mother FM and TV stations.
He among other things stated he has also procured a grader to fix roads in the constituency and in the area of education, is currently building a school which will enroll 8,000 pupils at Doblo-Gonno.
The NPP PC noted it would be free to cushion SHS students from Kotoku, Akramaman, Amasaman and its environs.
However, the NDC’s Sedem Afenyo was convinced her party had a superior track record than the NPP, a reason they have occupied the seat for many years.
Personally, Mr Afenyo said he created jobs by donating sewing machines to young people in the constituency, among others.
Despite losing the parliamentary election to the incumbent MP in 2020, Mr Afenyo is optimistic he will snatch the seat for the NDC.
To him, the NPP’s record was nowhere near the NDC and deserve another opportunity to do more for the people of Amasaman.
