Owner of King Faisal, Alhaji Karim Grusah, has called on President John Mahama to appoint Nii Lante Vanderpuye as the new Minister for Youth and Sports.
Vanderpuye, who has previously served as a Member of Parliament, is among several candidates being considered for the position, with Kofi Adams and Herbert Mensah also in the running.
Despite Vanderpuye’s past conflicts with Ghana FA officials during his tenure, Grusah believes his experience and expertise make him the best candidate to revitalize Ghanaian sports.
“Nii Lante Vanderpuye has already proven his capabilities, so I’m puzzled about what the NDC is waiting for,” he told Asempa FM’s Sports Nite.
“I recall that even under the NPP, former President Kufuor considered appointing him as Sports Minister, but internal party unrest prevented it.”
Grusah also highlighted Vanderpuye’s significant experience with Liberty Professionals, Hearts of Oak, and his background as a sports journalist as reasons why he is well-suited for the role.
“Since the NDC has returned to power, they should bring him back on board,” he added.
