A National Organiser aspirant for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Baba Jamal, has asserted that the ban on small-scale mining in the area is the cause of hardship in the country.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen Thursday, Mr Jamal explained that small-scale mining was the source of livelihood for the people in the area, making the collapse of the business cause a lot more harm than the good it intended.

“There were legal small-scale miners among the people, even though the galamseyers were majority but now, all of them have been affected. Akwatia, today, is broken down completely and now a ghost town”.
