Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BabyJet Promotions has revealed Black Stars coach, Akwasi Appiah consulted captain, Asamah Gyan before naming his squad against Kenya.
Samuel Annim Addo indicated that, Gyan is not worried about his exclusion from team and coach Akwasi Appiah always contact him before announcing his squad.
Coach Akwasi Appiah did not include the former Sunderland striker in his squad that lost to Kenya in the 2019 AFCN qualifiers last Saturday.
Many have blamed him for not calling Asamoah Gyan and the Ayew brothers. They warned if does not change his stance and recall them tothe team, they will ensure he loses his job.
But Annim Addo on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show Tuesday said “Asamoah Gyan knew he was not going to be a part of the team because coach Appiah called him and gave him that information”.
“Normally the head coach calls Gyan to discuss the squad with him since he is his captain. There is no problem between the two, Coach Appiah Knows Gyan’s worth but only excused him”, he said.
Touching on the subject of Asamoah Gyan’s retirement, Annim Addo stressed that Gyan is still active and the captain of the Black stars and will announce his retirement when the time is right.
