Akufo-Addo’s mismanagement lets Ivory Coast overtake Ghana’s economy – Mahama

-

Flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has criticized the Akufo-Addo-led administration for its alleged mismanagement.

He claimed that Ivory Coast has surpassed Ghana as Africa’s second-largest economy.

“Ivory Coast has taken Ghana’s second-largest economy position due to gross mismanagement and a lack of vision from the current regime” he said.

He questioned, “Why is a once large and robust economy, which was second only to Nigeria, now struggling and losing its position to other countries”

At a recent gathering, thousands of constituents from Pru East and West came to hear Mr. Mahama’s message of hope from the NDC.

Addressing the crowd, Mr. Mahama highlighted the high expectations of the youth, who are particularly concerned about job opportunities.

He remarked, “The country’s economy has been drastically destroyed, leading to a growing unemployment rate.”

Mr. Mahama emphasized that, “Ghana was the second-largest economy after Nigeria, but this position has now been cheaply given away to neighbouring Ivory Coast,” attributing the decline to corruption, mismanagement, and incompetence.

Looking ahead, he promised that a future NDC government would work to restore Ghana’s economic prowess, making it more attractive to investors.

“We will restore the country’s economic strength to ensure it remains competitive and appealing for investment,” Mr. Mahama said.
