Akufo-Addo’s ‘misguided’ attacks on Mahama won’t make Bawumia President – Joyce Bawah

-

Spokesperson for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, Joyce Bawah Mogtari, has responded to President Akufo-Addo’s recent remarks about the former President.

According to her, Akufo-Addo’s criticism of Mahama will not help make Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia the next President of Ghana.

During a ‘Thank You Tour’ in the North East region on Tuesday, October 15, President Akufo-Addo addressed the issue of illegal small-scale mining (galamsey), calling on Mahama to clarify his position.

He questioned Mahama’s stance on the enforcement of laws against galamsey

“Today, he [Mahama] said that he doesn’t believe in jail, that he’s against galamsey, and he will enforce the law. So once again, we have to ask ourselves, Mr. JM, where do you stand? What are you telling the people of Ghana?”

Akufo-Addo also reiterated his commitment to fighting illegal mining, saying, “When I said I was putting my presidency on the line, I meant I was prepared to take the political risk involved in trying to deal with this galamsey phenomenon.”

In response, Ms Mogtari took to her X (formerly Twitter) saying, “Desperate Nana Akufo-Addo should know that his misguided attacks on John Mahama will not make Dr. Bawumia President.”
