Akufo-Addo to deliver final State of Nation Address on January 3

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will deliver his final State of the Nation Address to Parliament on Friday, January 3, 2025, in line with Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution.

The address serves as the President’s last official report on the state of the nation as he prepares to leave office.

This significant event precedes the dissolution of the 8th Parliament of the 4th Republic, scheduled for Monday, January 6, 2025.

Later that evening, the 9th Parliament will convene at 11:00 PM to elect a Speaker and two Deputy Speakers.

According to a statement from the Parliamentary Service, the Speaker-elect and newly chosen Members of Parliament will be sworn in at midnight, marking the transition to the new legislative term.

To facilitate comprehensive media coverage, Parliament has urged journalists and media houses to secure accreditation in advance.
