Akufo-Addo looks younger after 2-years in office – Suhuyini

-

The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Tamale North Constituency, Alhaji Alhassan Suhuyini, has observed that president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has grown younger after two years in office.

This, he said is rather strange because previous presidents had grown older faster while in office.

But noted the Akufo-Addo’s youthful looks may be as a result of the kind of places he goes for holidays.

January 7 marked exactly two years Akufo-Addo was sworn into office as the fifth president of the Fourth Republic of Ghana and Ghanaians have been assessing his NPP-led government two years on.

While the Tamale North MP thinks the NPP government has been abysmal in its first two years, MP for the Kwadaso Constituency, Dr. Samiu Kwadwo Nuamah, thinks the government has been unprecedented in his performance.

Assessing the two-year-old Akufo-Addo’s government on TV3’s New Day Tuesday, January 8, Dr. Nuamah cited among other things the implementation of the Free Senior High School policy as the successes that Ghanaians should celebrate and commend the government for.

He claimed in two years the NPP government has attempted to implement about 90% of its promises, unlike a government which could not deliver on its promises in eight years, taking an indirect swipe at the NDC.

These claims by NPP’s Dr. Nuamah, Mr. Suhuyini described as acts of dishonesty which he observed characterized the government.

“The dishonesty of the government is even more annoying than the failure”, Mr. Suhuyini said noting that the NPP keeps shifting the goalpost about what the NDC’s achievements and failures were.

He mentioned for example that the NPP dismissed that the NDC had invested in infrastructure development when they were in opposition but came into government to claim they were paying contractors the NDC owed.

He further lamented the way the contractors were being handled by the government describing it as unfair.

According to Mr. Suhuyini, the dishonesty in the NPP government is championed by the president, Akufo-Addo.

“Akufo-Addo promised to fight stealing with a stolen speech,” he said, making reference to a speech of the president which was alleged to have been plagiarised.

But Dr. Nuamah would not take any of that, still maintaining his earlier stance that the NPP government deserves applause for a yeoman’s job done so far.
