Akufo-Addo justifies appointment of 16 judges

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has strongly justified his decision to appoint 16 new Court of Appeal Judges,stating that the current times and circumstances necessitate their work.

This significant expansion in the personnel of the Court of Appeal is a direct response to the challenges posed by an overburdened court system.

President Akufo-Addo made these remarks immediately after swearing in the new judges at a ceremony held at the Jubilee House.

He noted that the increase in judges is crucial to improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the judicial system.

Additionally, the President mentioned that the Chief Justice, with the support of the Judicial Council, has decided to establish permanent panels of the Court of Appeal in five locations across the country.

This initiative aims to expedite the delivery of justice and reduce the backlog of cases.

Justice Gyamfi Dankwa, speaking on behalf of his fellow newly appointed judges, expressed their profound gratitude to President Akufo-Addo.

He pledged that they would serve faithfully and diligently, assuring that they will not disappoint Ghanaians.
