The National Democratic Congress (NDC) says the government’s scandalous embrace of corruption resulted in the clearing agent tag.
The NDC believes the Akufo-Addo-led government has been hit with a lot of scandals which make the government worthy of such an enviable accolade.
“Your claims that a number of corruption allegations are being manufactured by the NDC is wrong because your embrace of scandalous corruption resulted in the clearing agent tag and you started by establishing nepotistic blood and close relatives appointees in your government,” the NDC said.

Speaking at the 2019 Bar Conference to outline the New Patriotic Party’s major strides in corruption fight, President Akufo-Addo was of the view that there are attempts by the opposition NDC to run down his administration.
“The orchestrated attempts by my opponents to hang the tag of corruption on the necks of my government and myself, despite all the manifest efforts being made to deal with the phenomenon of corruption will not work. I did not come into public life to enrich myself,” he said.
However, addressing party supporters and the media at a news conference on Tuesday, the General Secretary of NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia said the comments of the president clearly showed he failed to admit a problem exists.

“You cannot fight corruption if you fail to recognise a problem which needs to be solved exists despite the numerous corruption scandals and that is why the Akufo-Addo-led government has failed in their fight,” he said.
To the NDC, President Akufo-Addo must identify the problems in his government and work harder in solving them.
