President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has extended his heartfelt congratulations to President-elect John Dramani Mahama on his decisive victory in the 2024 Presidential Election.
In a phone call to President-elect Mahama, President Akufo-Addo commended him on his achievement and assured his unwavering commitment to facilitating a smooth transfer of power on January 7, 2025.
“I am fully committed to ensuring a seamless transition process,” President Akufo-Addo stated, pledging his administration’s full cooperation with the incoming government.
He also expressed his readiness to work closely with President-elect Mahama and his team to uphold the principles of good governance during the handover.
This gesture follows the official declaration of the 2024 Presidential Election results by the Electoral Commission Chairperson, Jean Mensa.
President Akufo-Addo praised the Electoral Commission for its professionalism and the people of Ghana for their active participation in a peaceful and credible election.
“This successful election reflects the collective commitment of Ghanaians to upholding the democratic process,” he remarked.
He further called for national unity in the aftermath of the elections, urging all citizens to focus on consolidating democracy and fostering the rule of law.
“This is a time for collaboration and nation-building. I encourage all Ghanaians to work together to strengthen our democracy,” he added.
To initiate the transition process, President Akufo-Addo has invited President-elect Mahama to a meeting at Jubilee House on Wednesday, December 11, 2024.
The meeting is expected to set the stage for a cooperative and structured handover of power, underscoring Ghana’s reputation as a model of democracy in Africa.
Concluding his message, President Akufo-Addo offered a prayerful wish for the nation’s continued prosperity. “May God continue to bless our homeland Ghana and make her great and strong,” he affirmed.
