The National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Adansi Akrofoum, Joseph Azumah has led constituents to weed the Akrofoum to Dampayaw and township roads for safety reasons.
Speaking to Adom News, Mr Azumah indicated majority of accidents on that stretch is as a result of the bushy nature of the road.
He said it was given to a contractor by the previous government to work on the road every month but it has been abandoned.
Based on this backdrop, Mr Azumah brought in a caterpillar to clear the weeds along the road but was ordered to halt work and submit a letter for consideration.
Unfortunately, he hasn’t had any feedback till date therefore decided to mobilise the constituents to clear the weeds.
Some drivers blamed the accidents in the area on the bushy environment which obstruct their views.
A commercial driver said the road has become very narrow, making it difficult for two cars to bypass each other.
They therefore commended Mr Azumah for leading the charge.
