Akrofuom MP supports local youth with startup tools and funds

Member of Parliament for Adansi Akrofuom, Alex Blankson, has extended his support to 15 young apprentices in the constituency by providing them with sewing machines and cash to help launch their careers.

The support was presented at a ceremony organized by the Ghana National Tailors and Dressmakers Association (GNTDA) in Adansi Akrofuom, marking the graduation of these new master apprentices.

In an interview with Adom News correspondent Isaac K. Normanyo, Mr. Blankson explained that this initiative has become an annual gesture aimed at promoting skill development and supporting self-reliance among the youth.

Alongside the sewing machines, each apprentice received GHC 1,000 to help kickstart their business.

Mr. Blankson expressed pride in seeing previous beneficiaries make judicious use of the resources, noting the impact this support has had in motivating others to pursue training in Akrofuom.

Hagar Arhin, Vice Chairperson of GNTDA in Adansi Akrofuom, expressed appreciation for the MP’s consistent backing and appealed to parents to remain actively involved in supporting their children through vocational training, stressing that such support is as essential as that given to those in formal education.

The program, lauded by community members, is part of Mr. Blankson’s ongoing commitment to empowering youth, fostering self-employment, and reducing unemployment in the constituency.
