Ahmed Suale’s murder suspect to appear in court today

The Managing Director of ISPY Company, Daniel Owusu Koranteng, who is in custody in connection with the murder of investigative journalist Ahmed Suale, is set to reappear in court today, April 2, 2025.
Koranteng, also known as Kwasi Amakye, is facing a provisional charge of murder. The case was adjourned by the Madina Magistrate Court, presided over by Magistrate Suzzy Nyakote, to allow further investigations.
His arrest came after an extensive investigation by the FBI in collaboration with local law enforcement.
Police sources revealed that phone records linked Koranteng to Suale in the days leading up to the murder. Prosecutors also indicated that Koranteng was in Suale’s neighborhood on the night of the incident.
In his court appearance, Koranteng admitted to taking photographs of Suale but denied selling the photos to politician Kennedy Agyapong, who had aired them on television and urged the public to attack Suale.
Koranteng’s lawyer, Kofi Essel, called the charge “shambolic” and contended that there was no solid evidence to support the allegations. He also requested bail, asserting that there was no substantial proof to justify the charge.
