The Communications Director of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah, has strongly criticized the government’s decision to revoke public sector appointments made after December 7, 2024.
He warned that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) would be judged by posterity for its actions.
His comments follow a directive from Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, ordering the cancellation of all appointments and recruitments made in the final weeks of former President Nana Akufo-Addo’s administration. The directive cited concerns over governance principles and the government’s stance on end-of-tenure appointments.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, February 20, Mr. Ahiagbah condemned the move and called for its reversal.
“God and posterity will not forgive the NDC for the livelihood-destroying revocations,” he wrote.
He further urged President John Mahama to fulfill his oath of office by reinstating the affected appointments.
“President John Dramani Mahama, please stop or reverse these mass revocations in fulfillment of your oath of office,” he added.
Mr. Ahiagbah insisted that the decision was unjust and harmful to those affected, urging the government to reconsider its actions.
