Agyemang-Badu blames GFA, Otto Addo for AFCON failure

Former Ghana midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu has blamed the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and head coach Otto Addo for the Black Stars’ failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

For the first time in two decades, the four-time African champions will miss the continent’s biggest football tournament.

Ghana endured a disappointing qualifying campaign, finishing last in their group with just three points from six matches—suffering three defeats and securing only three draws.

Speaking in an interview, the U-20 FIFA World Cup winner criticized both the GFA and Otto Addo, stressing that they must take responsibility for the team’s poor performance.

“The Ghana Football Association (GFA) and Otto Addo must all share the blame for failing to qualify Ghana for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON),” he told Sporty FM.

Despite this setback, the Black Stars will now turn their attention to the 2026 World Cup qualifiers later this month, with crucial matches against Chad and Madagascar on the horizon.
