Former Ghana midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu has praised Jordan Ayew for his outstanding leadership following the Black Stars’ dominant victories over Chad and Madagascar in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Ayew, who was recently appointed as the team’s captain ahead of the matchday five and six fixtures, proved his worth by inspiring Ghana to a 5-0 thrashing of Chad, where he found the net. He then played a pivotal role in the 3-0 victory against Madagascar, providing three assists.
Speaking on TV3, Agyemang-Badu commended Ayew’s leadership qualities and mentality.
“He’s very calm, with a strong mentality. Playing with him, you’ll realize the kind of guy he is,” he said.
He also expressed confidence in the current leadership setup, citing the contributions of past captains like Stephen Appiah and Asamoah Gyan.
Ayew’s impressive tally now stands at five goals and four assists in the qualifiers, ranking him second only to Egypt’s Mohamed Salah, who leads with six goals and three assists.
The Black Stars will resume their qualification campaign in September, taking on Comoros and Chad as they push for a fifth World Cup appearance.
