Ghanaian actor Agya Koo caused quite a stir during a live band performance at a funeral when he dropped the microphone in frustration after a mourner shouted in support of former President John Mahama.
The outburst seemed to be an attempt to incite political conflict, given Agya Koo’s well-known affiliation with the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Agya Koo, visibly upset, interrupted his performance to address the situation.
He cautioned that political affiliations should not disrupt the event, pointing out that some of his band members are supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), yet they work together harmoniously.
“You don’t like former President John Mahama more than I do,” Agya Koo asserted, revealing that Mahama often invites him to his home for conversations since they have an amicable relationship despite political differences.
He also described hisself as a political favorite, stating that regardless of who is in power, be it Nana Addo or Mahama, he maintains a close relationship with the government.
“If Nana Addo is in power, I am a government pet, and if Mahama or any other is in power, I will still be in bed with the government,” Agya Koo declared.
Despite the disruption, other mourners managed to restore calm, allowing Agya Koo to continue his performance and bring the focus back to the solemn occasion.
