The Black Satellites of Ghana came from a goal down to beat Benin 3-1 in the first leg encounter of the 2019 Africa Youth Qualifiers played at the Cape Coast Stadium.
Allagbani Saliou put the visitors in front after 28 minutes through a counter attack, to give them a commanding play in that half.
The recess proved fruitful for the Satellites as the former Africa Youth Champions and the home team came back better and gave them the edge over Benin.
WAFA SC striker Richard Danso scored twice and captain Ishahaku Konda added the third.
Coach Jimmy Cobblah and his charges will travel to Cotonou next week for the second-leg to decide which side will advance to the next round of the qualifiers.
