The Electoral Commission (EC) has procured speedboats to transport electoral materials to the Dwarf Islands and other hard-to-reach areas in the Afram Plains North and South constituencies.
Additionally, the EC is collaborating with the Ghana Air Force to airlift materials to ensure faster collation of results from regions with limited road and internet connectivity.
In the 2020 elections, delays in accessing network connectivity posed significant challenges in receiving results from remote areas like the Dwarf Islands. To prevent a recurrence, the EC has implemented new measures for a more efficient process this year.
Eastern Regional Director of the EC, John Appiah Baffour, assured in an interview with Citi News that, these efforts are aimed at timely collation and declaration of results.
“This time around, in Afram Plains South and North, we have made provisions to ensure results are retrieved early. We have hired speedboats to collect the results and secured support from the Ghana Army, which is providing a chopper to airlift materials and bring them back. We are optimistic that everything will proceed smoothly, allowing us to declare the results promptly,” he stated.
