The husband of comedienne, broadcaster and actress Afia Schwarznegger, Lawrence Abrokwa has been granted bail by an Accra Circuit Court on Monday.
This is after he pleaded not guilty to two counts of domestic violence, threat of harm, publication of obscene material and assault.
Mr Abrokwa, also an actor and comedian, was arrested on August 30, 2017, when an official complaint of an alleged assault was received from the actress, known in private life as Valentina Nana Agyeiwaa.
He was cautioned and discharged as investigations continued into the case. On the same day, police had information of a video showing Afia’s nudity, which had gone viral on social media.
The police suspecting that Abrokwa was the source of the leaked video, arrested and arraigned him before a court.
Joy News’ Joseph Ackah-Blay was in court today and reports that the bail was granted after the plaintiff’s lawyer, Maurice Ampaw made the application before the court.
Joseph also said Chief Inspector Maxwell Oppong told the court that initial investigations carried out by the police revealed the substance Abrokwah was seen threatening his wife with in the video, was not acid but water.
