Member of Parliament for the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency, Emmanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko says the recently launched afforestation program by the government is a good initiative but will be more effective when citizens understand the initiative thoroughly.
At the launch of the afforestation programme, on the 13th of August at the Jubilee Park, President Nana Akuffo-Addo stated that 20,000 young men and women have been employed to help manage the country’s forests, and prevent desertification and land degradation.

He revealed that the launching of the program is in line with the NPP’s 2016 manifesto commitment of reforestation, forest rehabilitation and forest protection activities.
Speaking on Joy News’ Morning Show, AM show, the MP stated that the effects of deforestation should be explained in details for an ordinary person to understand.
“We see the effects but we don’t explain why it is so….I think we should make vigorous attempts to explain to all and sundry so that they will understand that if you cut down a tree, you are creating problems for yourself,” he advised.
The Former CEO of the Food and Drugs Authority said the ordinary man should understand the initiatives in order to improve the programme and supervision should be done appropriately to help make the programme a success.
