Gender Minister, Darkoa Newman has hailed the Affirmative Action bill as a crucial step towards achieving gender parity.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Tuesday, she said the bill’ has a potential to empower women and ensure their increased representation in leadership roles.
Ms. Newman is confident President Akufo-Addo will assent afterapprovalgender by Parliament.
“We have many qualified women ready to assume roles across sectors. When women are involved, it works. We are all equal before the law. The law is perfect,” she said.

The Gender Minister stressed the bill’s mandate for 30% female representation once enacted.
The incumbent NPP MP for Okaikwei South, acknowledged the collaborative effort, thanking male MPs for their role in advancing the bill.
She stressed the Act’s provisions for addressing gender-based offenses.
The Affirmative Action Gender Equity Act 2024, recently passed unanimously by Parliament, aims to enhance women’s participation in decision-making processes.
The Act is expected to improve the lives of women in the country by ensuring greater representation and participation in governance across various sectors.
