The Minority Leader in Parliament and Member of Parliament for Effutu, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, has commissioned a six-unit classroom block for Effutu AME Zion ABC JHS after years of pupils studying in a deteriorating structure.
For years, students of the school endured unsafe learning conditions in a death-trap building until school authorities reached out to the MP for intervention.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Afenyo-Markin advised female students to avoid early relationships that could jeopardize their future, while urging male students to stay away from drugs and early sexual activities.
He further pledged to construct an ICT center and a library for the school to enhance education in the area.
The Effutu MP also called on the current government to refrain from intimidating and harassing former government appointees, emphasizing that politics should focus on national development rather than tarnishing the reputation of political opponents after elections.
He urged the government to create an enabling environment for ordinary Ghanaians rather than fostering insecurity.
Meanwhile, the Effutu Municipal Education Director, Diana Anderson, commended Afenyo-Markin for his commitment to education in the municipality.
She assured that the facility would be well maintained to serve future generations.
