Aduana Stars have officially announced the appointment of Yussif Abubakar on a two-year contract to replace Romanian manager Cioaba Aristica, who mutually terminated his contract with the club end of last season.
Abubakar, until recently, was the head coach of regional rivals Techiman City but had his contract cancelled due to disagreements with club owner Charles Kwadwo Ntim.
Aduana chief executive officer Albert Commey has lauded the qualities of the incoming coach, revealing the tasks ahead.
“We believe in the capabilities of Yussif Abubakar since he has previously managed several top clubs in the country. He is a top coach that has respect among his peers and the best for our stars,” Commey told Goal.
“Our former coach did a wonderful job last season. When he arrived after three games, we were at the bottom of the log but finished the season in second position, two points behind leaders Wa All Stars”.
“We hope that Abubakar will improve upon that achievement next season. The club want him to succeed in all competitions so we are willing to provide everything that he will need,” he added.
Abubakar’s immediate task is to win the GHALCA G6 tournament which kicks off next week at the Sunyani Coronation Park. Aduana were runners-up in the last edition of the tournament after losing on penalties to Asante Kotoko.
