Adu Boahene’s arrest: A-G has not erred – Martin Kpebu [Audio]

Private legal practitioner and member of the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) team, Martin Kpebu, says the Attorney-General, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has not acted wrongly in the case involving former National Signals Bureau Director, Kwabena Adu Boahene.

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Lawyer Kpebu defended the Attorney-General’s actions, stating that he was only following the legal process.

“What the AG is doing is in line with the law. This is how legal proceedings work, and he is simply doing what the law permits him to do as Attorney-General,” he said.

Responding to concerns that the Attorney-General’s confidence in securing a conviction could influence public perception and the judicial process, Kpebu dismissed such claims.

“The Attorney-General is always expected to take a stance in cases he prosecutes. That’s how the game is—one side will always feel aggrieved,” he explained.

He also addressed the Minority’s protest over the case, stating that their opposition was part of the democratic process.

“The Minority will naturally oppose and argue that the AG has erred, but that is their role as the opposition—to keep the government in check. Their protests are useful,” he noted.

According to Kpebu, such political disagreements are not unique to Ghana.

“This happens all over the world. When the opposition comes into power, they will also do the same. There is value in the noise because it strengthens our democracy,” he added.
