Residents of Adamso in the Adansi Akrofoum District of the Ashanti Region have made a passionate appeal to the government for essential amenities.
In an interview with Adom News correspondent Isaac K. Normanyo, the residents, led by opinion leader John K. Ampong, cited the need for a reliable communication network and adequate school furniture.
Ampong stressed that the lack of a communication network has made it challenging to retain teachers in Adamso, as the absence of connectivity discourages educators from remaining in the area.
According to him, establishing a network would not only improve teacher retention but also enhance communication for residents.
In addition to the network issues, the community faces a severe shortage of school furniture.
Parents are currently compelled to purchase chairs and tables for their children, which they must bring to school daily—an arrangement that Ampong described as unhealthy and unsustainable.
The Odikro of Adamso, Nana Appiah Kubi, echoed Ampong’s concerns and further appealed to non-governmental organizations, the central government, and the general public for assistance in providing furniture for the local school.
Nana Kubi emphasized the need for other critical resources, such as computers, to enhance learning.
Additionally, he pointed out that the headmaster’s bungalow, which was recently destroyed in a fire, requires urgent rehabilitation or rebuilding to provide suitable accommodation for school staff.
