Security analyst Adam Bona has expressed concerns about recent developments at the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), particularly regarding appointments allegedly made by the agency’s Executive Director, Maame Tiwaa Addo Danquah, following the recent electoral outcomes.
Mr. Bona pointed out that EOCO had recently appointed a new Director of Investigations, an action he considers problematic as it occurred just before the current leadership transitions.
“It is unusual to see such appointments happening at this stage. The incoming administration may find that such decisions could affect ongoing investigations, as the new appointee would be overseeing the process,” Mr. Bona stated in an interview on Good Morning Ghana on Metro TV.
He further emphasized the need for transparency and good governance, suggesting that such actions could raise concerns within the agency and the broader public.
“These are important issues that should be carefully considered to maintain the integrity of the institution,” he added.
Mr. Bona also called on President Mahama to ensure that any previous unresolved issues, particularly regarding law enforcement and conduct within the police force, are addressed.
He referenced an incident from the early days of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) administration, urging for thorough investigations into past actions.
He concluded by advocating for a fair and transparent process in the new government’s approach to addressing all such matters.
