Lawyers for ACP Agordzor, have accused State prosecutors of attempting to deny their client bail by referring the matter to the Kaneshie District Court which according to them has no power to grant bail.
The lawyers say the prosecution intentionally brought their client to the Kaneshie District Court knowing very well that the court has no jurisdiction, further arguing that it is an attempt to deny their client bail.

The District Court, they argued, can only hear committal proceedings which will require the state to hand it the bill of indictment.
The lawyers also argued that the practice of bringing suspects to court to be remanded, contrary to article 14(3) of the constitution, especially when the prosecution is not ready for committal proceedings, is unconstitutional.

They, therefore, urged the court not to proceed with the case but to reject it.
The Kaneshie District Court has, however, set Friday, November 8, 2019, to deliver its ruling on the matter.
