ACEYE calls for better policy communication and strategic planning in Ghana

The Africa Centre for Entrepreneurship and Youth Empowerment (ACEYE) has advocated for a strategic approach to solving issues in Ghana.

In view of this, the founder, Emmanuel Acquah has urged Ghanaians to move away from the belief that changing governments every eight years would automatically bring solutions.

Mr Acquah was speaking at a press conference where ACEYE announced the results of its Public Policy Value Rating survey.

“The idea that a simple change of government every eight years will solve the country’s problems is misguided. What we need is a solid, long-term plan to address our challenges, not just frequent political turnover,” he said.

The survey which on the campaign promises of Ghana’s two major political parties, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Conducted with 500 participants in Accra, it aimed to gauge public perceptions of the promises made by both parties ahead of the upcoming elections.

Following the outcome of the survey, Acquah further called for a more transparent and accessible approach to political campaigning, suggesting that political parties create abridged versions of their manifestos to ensure that all Ghanaians, regardless of their educational background, can fully understand.

“It’s important that the manifestos be simplified so that every Ghanaian can engage with the policies and understand what each party intends to do if elected.

“This will allow voters to make more informed decisions based on clear, comprehensible information,” he added.

The survey revealed key insights into the public’s views on the promises made by the NPP and NDC, which are expected to play a significant role in shaping the political discourse leading up to the elections.

Acquah’s comments on the need for effective communication and planning are likely to resonate with many Ghanaians seeking to move beyond partisan politics in favor of practical solutions.

As Ghana heads into the 2024 election, the call for more transparency, clearer communication, and long-term policy planning reflects the growing desire among citizens for sustainable governance rather than mere political change.

ACEYE continues to advocate for policies that empower the youth and entrepreneurs, while promoting greater public engagement in the democratic process.
