The Acting Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Seth Panwum, has assured that the Accra Sports Stadium is in excellent condition ahead of the Black Stars’ 2026 World Cup qualifier against Chad next month.

Following the recent disqualification of the Baba Yara Stadium from hosting CAF and FIFA-sanctioned matches, the Accra Sports Stadium has now been designated as the venue for Ghana’s senior national team games.

Speaking to Citi Sports, Panwum dismissed concerns over the stadium’s condition, emphasizing that it has undergone continuous maintenance and refurbishment to meet required standards.

“The Accra Sports Stadium is really very solid and in a very good shape,” Panwum said.

“You know, since the last incident that led to the closure of the Baba Yara sports stadium, and we put in every effort to refurbish the Accra sports stadium, it has still been maintained, it has still been maintained to its standard till date.”

He also refuted claims that the stadium is in a poor state, describing such reports as misleading.

Panwum further confirmed that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially designated the stadium as the venue for the Black Stars’ upcoming qualifier against Chad, scheduled for March 17.

“As far as we know, the GFA has submitted the stadium, and from our communication with them, the game against Chad will be played here,” he said.

Following the match in Accra, the Black Stars will travel to face Madagascar in their Matchday 6 fixture.
